Dr. Sandeep Suryakant Kate is the Founder of the 'Satara Runners Foundation', a non profit organization, which organises the Satara Hill Half Marathon.
He started running for fitness in 2012. Finishing his first Half Marathon at Corbett National Park in April 2012 inspired him to dream of organising a half marathon event in Satara, his home town. His wife Suchitra was the first person to follow him on this new journey. The couple was soon joined by friends & family, who came together to organise the first edition of the now iconic 'Satara Hill Half Marathon', on 7th October 2012.
Managed entirely on a volunteer basis, the SHHM has become a symbol of the collective power of a community, working together as a Team, to achieve the seemingly Impossible. He has led his team with vision & the Team's collective passion has led to SHHM being recognised as one of the most desirable running events in the world.
Dr Sandeep has run Half & Full marathons all over India and abroad. He has also finished the Comrades Ultra Marathon ( the Ultimate Human Race ) in South Africa, back to back in 2013 & 2014.
He leads by example, practises what he preaches & loves to inspire & motivate others to take up running and fitness as a lifestyle.
He was the Race Director of SHHM for it's first 6 editions. He has since passed on the responsibility to his friend and Teammate Dr Devdutta Deo.
